Tik Tok- a Quick How to for the millennial or older

Are you a millennial? Do you feel super out of touch with this day's youth?? ME TOO! So I went down a TikTok rabbit hole and created this how-to for us "boomers." But before we get to that, we may need to know what Tik Tok is and what it's mission is. So I took this right from their website.

Tik Tok is:

TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. It is used to create short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos.
Tik Tok's Mission is:
TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. Our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy.

So a Quick Step by Step on how to get on TikTok
Step 1
  • Download the App from the App Store
  • Create your account
    • I logged in using my phone number, and TikTok created my “anonymous” username.
Step 2 & 3
  • Start exploring videos!
  • Create your own videos!

A quick update!

So it's been a few weeks since I have posted, this semester has been a rollercoaster more than others. Mostly, because I am pregnant with my 1st child! And I couldn't be more excited...but it is taking a lot out of me! Being principal, and a full-time doctoral student had me busy enough add in morning sickness, aches, and pain, as well as insane insomnia which leads to being fatigued all day... this is no joke! But I plan on making this a real thing more than my project, so I need to put the work in. That's all for my update!

The Beginning of Second Semester

As I start back up with the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year, I have been thinking about how I want to go about Professional Developments with my team. Since my two courses for my doctorate are so heavily focused on Educational Technology and its use in the classroom- I think I will carry that theme over to work for my staff. The one app I really want to start using at our school as both a teaching tool and an outreach tool is TikTok. Over the next few weeks, I will dive deeper into how I will be using the app TikTok to help my teachers grab and hold onto student attention, and how my community outreach coordinator can use it to help us with recruiting new students.

For today, I will leave you with a viral video of a teacher doing what all educators love to do...make a fool of themselves for the entertainment of our students.

Welcome!

Hi! My name is Rashi, and I am the 'unicorn principal'!

My students and staff titled me that because I am the epitome of a 'girly girl'- except I LOVE technology!  I have wanted to start this blog for about a year now but just have not made the time. This semester one of my doctoral professors *shout out to Dr. Sparks* is forcing us to create a blog for our class. So for the first few posts, my blog will focus on technology in the classroom.
